If you’re a fan of the packet of french onion dip, wait til you try this! You’ll be amazed!
* French Onion Dip *
For the Caramelized Onions:
1 medium to large onion
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp black pepper
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp sf sweetener
2 tbl oil (I use bacon grease)
1 tbl butter
Cut onion in half, then into thirds and thin slice.
Melt butter and oil in a heavy bottom pan over medium high heat and add sliced onions. Stir onions to coat, season with above and let sit to begin to brown then flip and repeat.
Once they have an overall brown look, reduce heat to medium and just stir them until they are as brown as you like.
Remove to a plate to cool.
For the Dip:
8 tbl (120g) sour cream
4 tbl (60g) mayonnaise
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp white pepper
1/8 tsp garlic powder
Stir to combine.
Add in cooled caramelized onions and stir to combine
Cover and chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
Dip will get its rich color after chilling.
Stir before serving.
Serve with pork rinds, flax crackers, crudites or stuffed in hard boiled egg whites
This dip is amazing just like this…however, you can up the amazingness by adding a splash of sherry or worcestershire sauce into the onions near the end of cooking.
Another welcomed addition is your favorite chopped jerky – my fav is Keto Carne!
This will turn it into a quick and delicious philly cheesesteak dip!!
